Surface Preparation

Remove all loose dirt, oil, dust, grease and other contaminants to expose a good, clean, sound surface. For wood floors, ensure any loose flooring is tightly nailed down and support is sufficient, and that there is no excessive deflection under normal loads. Apply E-Z Flow Primer 100 by using a roller or soft bristle brush on to the surface area and allow to dry completely, approx. 1 hour.

Mixing

Mix 4.5 L (4.5 qts.) of clean water to 22.7 kg (50 lbs.) of Super E-Z Flow Concrete Floor Underlayment. Place the water in a mixing pail first and then add Super E-Z Flow Concrete Floor Underlayment while mixing. A power mixer is recommended. Do not over water; over watering will cause discoloring and bleeding. Do not over mix.

Application

For small installations, mix Super E-Z Flow powder and water using a 1/2” heavy duty drill with a turbine mixer or similar mixing paddle. Place the liquid Super E-Z Flow Floor Concrete Underlayment by pouring directly from the mixing container. If needed spread material in place with a spreader. Super E-Z Flow Floor Concrete Underlayment will continue to be flowable during the first 15 minutes after mixing. Super E-Z Flow Concrete Floor Underlayment can be pumped to installation area. (Contact manufacturer for pump recommendations). Super E-Z Flow Concrete Floor Underlayment can be installed from featheredge to a thickness of 1” (2.5 cm) in one operation. For areas of greater thickness, it is recommended to mix the Super E-Z Flow Concrete Floor Underlayment with washed pea gravel 1/4” (6 mm) in size. Mix Super E-Z Flow Floor Concrete Underlayment with water first, then add pea gravel. Use 10 kg (22 lbs) of pea gravel per bag. If aggregate is wet, reduce the amount of water to avoid over watering. If pea gravel is not available, then Super E-Z Flow Concrete Floor Underlayment can be applied in a series of 1” (2.5 cm) pours until the desired thickness is obtained. Start application from the lowest point in the room and build in layers to the highest point. Do not apply next layer until the previous pour takes foot traffic, under normal conditions, 4 hours. If previous pour is left for over 24 hours, a coat of E-Z Flow Primer 100 is necessary before applying the next layer. Floor coverings can be installed after 4 hours. All control joints, expansion joints, saw cuts should be maintained through Super E-Z Flow application as laid out by the Architect or Engineer.

Clean Up

Clean with water as soon as possible after application.

Coverage

22.7 kg (50 lbs.) of Super E-Z Flow Concrete Floor Underlayment will cover approximately 1.8 m2 (20 sq. ft.) at 7 mm (1/4”) thickness.

Tips

  • If substrate is moist or wet due to hydrostatic pressure, Stone Mason® Waterproof cement should be applied to seal out moisture prior to application of primer.
  • Porous surfaces will require 2 coats of primer to avoid pinholes, bubbles and improve flow properties of Super E-Z Flow Underlayment.
  • A 1/4” minimum thickness of material is recommended with the exception of feather edged areas.
