Earning LEED Credits* with Henry products and systems

Air-Bloc® and Blueskin® SA

Optimize Energy Performance  (EA Credit 1.X), From 1 to 19 points.
Henry Company manufactures over 17 different air barrier systems designed to resist uncontrolled air movement through the building envelope. According to the U.S. Department on Energy, up to 40% of the energy costs required to heat and cool a building are consumed due to air leakage through the building envelope. An air barrier system can substantially reduce the amount of this leakage, resulting in reduced building energy consumption.

Construction IAQ Management Plan - During Construction (EQ Credit 3.1), 1 point.
Henry Company's Air-Bloc® 33 system and Blueskin SA systems allow the contractor to quickly seal the skin of the building envelope early on in construction as the exterior sheathing is installed.

  • Air-Bloc®:The air barrier system, which is vapor permeable and unaffected by UV radiation, will:
    • Prevent the infiltration of jobsite dust and airborne pollutants
    • Provide a rain barrier to protect absorptive materials from moisture damage
    • Allow moisture, which does get into the building during construction, the ability to diffuse outward through the wall system, reducing the possibility of condensation within the system and possible mold growth.
  • Blueskin® SA:The air barrier system will:
    • Prevent the infiltration of jobsite dust and airborne pollutants
    • Provide a rain barrier to protect absorptive materials from moisture damage

Regional Materials (MR Credit 5.X), 0 to 2 points.

Henry Company's products may contribute to achieving this credit:

  • Air-Bloc®: Henry Company manufactures Air-Bloc® 31 and Air-Bloc® 33 in Garland, TX near Dallas or in Montreal, Quebec. Projects constructed within 500 miles of either of these two locations may qualify for LEED points.
  • Blueskin® SA: Henry Company manufactures Blueskin SA approximately 50 miles north of Detroit. Projects constructed within 500 miles of this location may qualify for LEED points.
  • 1 point for 10% of materials by cost within 500 miles or 2 points for 20% of materials by cost within 500 miles

*The availability of LEED credits may depend on overall building design, quantity of Henry materials used, the nature of other building materials and is subject to periodic revision of LEED credit checklists. Henry makes no representations or warranties that use of a particular Henry product will result in any or a particular LEED credit being awarded.
