Coverage

40 lb (18.1 kg) covers approximately 40 to 60 sq.ft (3.7 m2 to 5.6 m2) with narrow joints or 14 to 26 sq.ft. (1.3 m2 to 2.4 m2) with wide joints. Required amount will depend on shape and size of the pavers or slabs and on the width and depth of the joints.

Filling

Weather conditions must be dry and no rain in the forecast for at least 24 hours after application. Temperature must be above 50°F (10°C). Prior to application, roll the bag of Paver Locking Sand a minimum of four times to ensure sufficient blend of polymer and sand. Cover surface with Paver Locking Sand using a push broom, sweep Paver Locking Sand into the joints to fill them completely. Compact surface where necessary. Ensure surface is swept clean of Paver Locking Sand to avoid surface damage or staining during any compacting.

Wetting

Stone and paver surface must be completely free from Paver Locking Sand before any wetting to avoid adhesion of Paver Locking Sand to the surface. Wetting must be performed gradually in multiple sprayings in order to completely soak Paver Locking Sand (approx. 2-3 sprayings). Ensure not to overspray or flood the surface, or generate run-off during any spray steps of the spray application (especially first spraying) as this could wash Paver Locking Sand out from the joints. Ideally, use low-pressure spray equipment or garden hose with a spray nozzle to produce a spray or sprinkle effect. This will allow you to produce a fine spray, which will facilitate multiple spray applications completely wetting Paver Locking Sand. Direct spray in an upward direction in order for the water to fall lightly on the complete surface without displacing Paver Locking Sand from joints.

Initial Wetting

Apply a light spray over the surface, this will stabilize Paver Locking Sand and prepare it for additional spray applications. Wait 5 – 10 minutes.

Additional Wettings

Additional wettings are required in order to gradually soak the joints. Additional spray wettings should be done in 10 to 15 minute intervals.

Drying Time

Let dry for at least 24 hours before light traffic and 48 hours before heavy traffic.

Limitations

Do not apply to wet or damp surfaces as the activation of the binder can make Paver Locking Sand stick to the surface. If Paver Locking Sand adheres to an unwanted surface area, a high-pressure sprayer or mechanical removal may be required. Do not use Paver Locking Sand as an additive with cement or other coatings. Application in cool weather will retard the performance of Paver Locking Sand. Do not apply when temperature is or will fall below 50°F (10°C) or if rain is forecast within 48 hours.

Caution

Avoid contact with eyes. If splashed in eyes or skin, flush thoroughly with water. Contains Silica Quartz. Keep out of reach of children.
