Blueskin PreSeal™ 435 is a pre-applied, fully, and permanently bonded composite sheet membrane for commercial foundation waterproofing applications. The membrane contains an adhesive and provides for mechanical attachment into wet concrete to form a permanent barrier seal. Blueskin PreSeal 435 consists of a polypropylene membrane laminated to a chemically enhanced non-woven geotextile fleece with a dimpled surface. Blueskin PreSeal 435 is pre-applied prior to rebar installation and concrete placement.

Features

  • Patented dual bond technology provides full mechanical and adhesive bond to the concrete.
  • Fully adheres to substrates eliminating water migration.
  • Easy installation with self-adhering laps and splices (no tools or torches required)
  • Wider roll width results in fewer seams, reducing risk of water ingress
  • Better cold weather flexibility than polyethylene based membranes
  • Barrier to water-vapor and radon gas permeation
  • High chemical resistance
  • Meets City of LA requirements for below-grade shotcrete walls

Sizes available:

  • 3.3 ft. x 65.6 ft. (1.0 m x 20 m)
  • 6.6 ft. x 65.6 ft. (2.0 m x 20 m)

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Applications

Q: What type of waterproofing applications can Blueskin PreSeal 320 and Blueskin PreSeal 435 Pre-applied waterproofing membrane be used in?
A: Blueskin PreSeal 320 and Blueskin PreSeal 435 can be used in pre-applied waterproofing applications such as underslab, blindside or property line applications.

Q: Does Blueskin PreSeal 320 and Blueskin PreSeal 435 require a protection slab?
A: No, they do not require a protection slab, yet Henry recommends the use of a protection slab on applications deep into the water table.

Q: Are Blueskin PreSeal 320 and Blueskin PreSeal 435 resistant to radon?
A: Yes, they are both resistant to radon.

Q: How do you attach BlueSkin PreSeal 320 and Blueskin PreSeal 435 to substrates?
A: These products can be attached using mechanical fasteners or Blueskin PreSeal Tape 50S

Installation Support

Q: What type of tape is used for seams on the Blueskin PreSeal 320 and Blueskin 435 membranes?
A: Henry supports the use of the Blueskin PreSeal Tape 120V or Blueskin PreSeal Tape 50S

Compare Blueskin PreSeal 320 & Blueskin PreSeal 435

Q: What is the difference between Blueskin PreSeal 320 and Blueskin PreSeal 435 and other pre-applied waterproofing membranes?
A: Blueskin PreSeal 320 and Blueskin PreSeal 435 combine the chemical resistance of polypropylene and mechanical bonding capability of a geotextile to combine into a unique waterproofing solution. Blueskin PreSeal membranes are lightweight, chemically resistant waterproofing membranes that bond to concrete mechanically through a geotextile and chemically through an adhesive.

Q: What is the difference between the Blueskin PreSeal 320 and Blueskin PreSeal 435?
A: Thickness. The Blueskin PreSeal 320 is a 32mil thick membrane material and Blueskin PreSeal 435 is a 43.5mil thick membrane. With the added thickness, the Blueskin PreSeal 435 material is slightly heavier, yet both products are lighter than most competing plastic waterproofing membranes.

Q: Blueskin PreSeal 320 and Blueskin PreSeal 435 have both a mechanical and chemical attachment to concrete, why is that important?
A: The mechanical attachment happens much faster during the concrete curing process. This allows for accelerated construction sequencing. Additionally, mechanical bonds are not as susceptible to dirt/debris contamination. The chemical bond is a result of a chemical reaction between the concrete and the adhesive in the geotextiles. Chemical bonds prevent water migration should the membrane be breached. By offering both bonding technologies, Blueskin PreSeal membranes take the best attributes of each technology to ensure optimum performance.

Q: Why is polypropylene (PP) better than high density polyethylene (HDPE)?
A: Both are widely accepted plastics with considerable worldwide experience. While both have strong chemical resistance, the polypropylene is less dense and can accomplish similar performance. Blueskin PreSeal is lighter weight than competing HDPE technologies. This allows for less jobsite fatigue transporting rolls across the site. Additionally, the less dense molecular formula of polypropylene makes the material easier to work with in colder climates.
